Erdogan, Rutte Discuss Ukraine Peace Efforts
The call, initiated by Rutte, was disclosed by Türkiye's Communications Directorate through a post on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal.
According to the directorate, "NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte called President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his way back from a summit with the US President (Donald Trump) and EU leaders."
This conversation came in the context of high-level diplomatic meetings aimed at addressing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
The two officials reached a consensus on maintaining close collaboration, while emphasizing Türkiye’s pivotal position in the pursuit of peace in Ukraine.
The statement highlighted Ankara's influence "as one of NATO’s most important" allies, reaffirming its strategic value within the alliance.
In addition to the Ukraine issue, Erdogan and Rutte emphasized Türkiye's significant contribution to maintaining stability and safety in the Black Sea region.
Their dialogue also included discussions on realistic and long-term security assurances that could contribute to broader regional peace and stability.
