Pakistan Discusses US–Iran Mediation with Saudi Crown Prince
The meeting, also attended by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, lasted nearly two hours and focused on broader regional developments. Sharif expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia in light of what he described as “recent regional escalation,” according to a statement from his office.
He also outlined what he called Pakistan’s ongoing peace initiatives, including efforts that reportedly contributed to a US-Iran ceasefire and recent rounds of dialogue between the two sides held in Islamabad.
The Saudi Crown Prince reportedly praised Pakistan’s role in facilitating diplomatic engagement, while both sides also reviewed bilateral relations and regional stability.
Sharif expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s continued economic support for Pakistan, highlighting its role in helping stabilize the country’s financial position during ongoing fiscal pressures.
The discussions come shortly after Pakistan’s finance minister confirmed that Saudi Arabia had agreed to provide $3 billion in financial assistance to help Islamabad manage foreign reserves amid debt repayment obligations.
Sharif also emphasized the longstanding strategic partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, noting their defense cooperation under a mutual strategic framework agreement.
