Iran Warns US Blockade May Derail Fragile Ceasefire
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei described the blockade as a provocative move, cautioning that Iran’s military stands ready to respond if necessary.
The warning comes amid mounting uncertainty over the durability of the truce, which had been brokered to ease hostilities between the two sides.
Separately, Iranian parliamentary speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said in a social media statement that Lebanon must be incorporated into any broader ceasefire framework. He credited Hezbollah’s resistance and cohesion among allied groups for recent developments in Lebanon, while urging the United States to uphold its commitments.
In remarks to media, senior military adviser Mohsen Rezaei said Iran is prepared for an extended conflict despite Washington’s threat to impose maritime restrictions. He stressed that Tehran would not concede its terms in ongoing negotiations.
Rezaei also criticized US actions in the region, accusing Washington of attempting to act as the "policeman" of the Strait of Hormuz, and insisted Iran would not give up its rights over the strategic waterway.
